Currently we are seeking a Field Technician I in our Bedford, Ohio office.

General Purpose

Work under supervision to perform specific field, laboratory and/or office assignments with clear objectives.


  • Oversight of subcontractors on a variety of projects including work within the following market areas; alternative energy, brownfields, environmental, shale oil and gas and waste management;
  • Sample various media, including: soil, concrete, asphalt, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor samples in accordance with standard operating procedures and submit to laboratory for analysis;
  • Operation of various types of field equipment (e.g. GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, nuclear density gauge, etc.) and laboratory equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures;
  • Operation and maintenance of remediation systems;
  • Completion of field documentation in a timely manner, such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, field notes, soil, concrete and asphalt data sheets, monitoring and chain-of-custody forms;
  • Review, understand and interpret project plans and specifications, shop drawings, product data, RFIs, and change orders;
  • Perform scheduled tests, observations and inspections in accordance with applicable test procedures and project requirements;
  • Collect data through research and file reviews;
  • Perform computations and process data using computer software or other established methods;
  • Assist with field testing to gather data for engineering, hydrogeologic, and scientific evaluations;
  • Prepare reports, drawings, tables, spreadsheets, graphs, soil boring logs, and other illustrations to document and summarize project data;
  • Observe and document field activities and prepare construction documentation reports; and
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles.

High School Diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred


Generally 1-3 years of relevant experience. Advanced degree and/or cooperative education may count toward experience.


Primarily outdoor work environment and occasional office environment. When in outdoor environment, employee is subject to significant walking distances in uneven terrain, dirt, varying temperatures, weather conditions, wildlife and noise.

Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without an accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances. Field equipment can weigh up to 30 lbs. and must be handled with caution.
