Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Student Transitions, Access and Retention, the Director of the Military and Veterans Success Center
(MVSC) is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Military and Veterans Success Center including, but not limited to: programming, budget
development and management, assessment, strategic planning, and staff supervision.

This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

  • Partner with Institutional Research to research and track data on military-affiliated students (retention rates, graduation rates, etc.), and disseminating the data to University stakeholders
  • Implement a comprehensive programming model that meet the needs of the military-affiliated student population, while also integrating them into the larger campus community
  • Serve as the liaison between military-affiliated students and the University and external community; advocating and educating the higher education community as to the needs of service members
  • Establish a mentorship program for newly enrolled military-affiliated students
  • Develop a Veterans Success Advisory Committee with university and community partners to support military-affiliated students
  • Work closely with the Dean of Students team to manage and resolve conduct and disciplinary issues concerning military-affiliated students
  • Track and monitor trends specific to serving military-affiliated students and utilizing the trends to inform the creation and implementation of campus services and programs
  • Prepare and submit various reports as required by local, State, and Federal entities, including the preparation of summaries from the Veterans Administration regarding educational benefits and disseminate that information to pertinent staff
  • Strengthen collaborations with strategic area partners (Academic Achievement Programs, Career Education and Development, Parent and Family Partnerships, and Student Transition Programs), as well as other stakeholders, as it relates to the provision of programs and services for military-affiliated students
  • Work with the Bursar, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Records, Student Transition Programs, and other campus stakeholders to facilitate efficient admissions, orientation and registration processes
  • Develop and recommend policies to Stockton leadership in support of student veterans, service members, dependents and their survivors
  • Serve on committees and task forces as directed by the Assistant Vice President and Vice President of Student Affairs
  • Advise the Student Veteran Organization and provide developmental opportunities for military-affiliated students
  • Support Stockton Universitys diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
  • A minimum of three years prior experience advocating for the veteran and military-affiliated student population in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs regulations, requirements, and benefits
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive student success and social justice
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, including overnight travel - regional and national

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military experience, with honorable discharge, preferred
  • Previous experience cultivating community partnerships to expand educational and professional development opportunities for veteran and militaryaffiliated students
  • Doctorate in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field
