OVERVIEW & IMPACT:

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Jose is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to oversee the Facilities organization. This position is instrumental to translating the company culture into physical environments where our talented employees can creatively do what they do best. This individual will oversee a department of 25 employees responsible for maintenance, environmental health and safety, construction, real estate, and physical security for our main office in San Jose, CA and a multiple US field offices. The ideal candidate is a strong team leader who is highly collaborative with a strategic mindset able to work effectively across all business groups and has the ability to thrive in a sometimes ambiguous and rapidly-changing environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the facilities and constructions projects
  • Ensure a safe & compliant physical environment for essential employees during the pandemic and prepare an amazing work space for all employees in the future
  • Create creative solutions for our employees return-to-work plan
  • Seek for innovated solutions for future campus events and employee socializing, while maintaining social distancing and safety measures
  • Oversee capital projects and prepare annual capital expenditure plans to address business growth and cultural improvements
  • Oversee construction projects ensuring sensible scope, timetable, quality, and cost. Manage key vendor relationships to ensure high quality deliverables
  • You will provide leadership over areas of regulatory compliance, facility management, while building a safety-oriented culture
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, inspections, compliance, and physical safety
  • A key element in this role is the cultural sensitivity, communication, and collaboration with international offices and personnel in Korea
  • Cultivates strong working relationships within the team and with other key stakeholders
  • Maintain operating budgets and partner closely with Finance on capital expenditures
  • Responsible for maintenance, emergency health and safety, construction, real estate, and physical security for our main office in San Jose and across 11 US field offices
  • Serve as a visible leadership figure for the department. Provide the direction, set priorities, and actively coach and develop staff to meet organization goals
  • You will set the tone and champion a customer service mindset and a focus on optimal work environments
  • Establish policies, procedures, and standards for effective and efficient department operating
  • You will have a key role in presenting reports and plans regularly as a member of the senior leadership team
  • Regularly assess office environments to proactively address issues and recommend improvements
  • Takes an active role in the planning and execution of special events and campus improvement initiatives
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local municipal laws, regulations, rules, directives, and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelors degree and 20+ years of experience and at least 10 years in a people management capacity
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Advanced project management skills with the demonstrated ability to deliver multiple projects on time/on budget with competing priorities
  • Experience working with a large multi-national firm and with a culturally diverse management team
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to maximize the talents of team members
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Effective communicator able to break down complex information into easy to understand key messages
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and implementing best practices
  • Effective at prioritization and managing workload priorities for a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and financial-management skills
  • Working knowledge of trades
  • Some travel to US offices required

PREFERED SKILLS

  • Degree in Construction Management, Business Administration or a related program
  • 15+ Years in Facilities Management of innovative and highly acclaimed high technology campuses including R&D labs, open workspace, and cafeterias
  • Certified in Emergency Health and Safety practices and protocols
  • Prior experience with Disaster/Pandemic response and support
