Position Purpose

To serve as a core member of the Native American Program (NAP) staff. Responsible for assisting the Director in the continued development and administration of the NAP mission through academic advising, program development, and the formulation of key partnerships with college offices and alumni. Will serve as a core team member specializing in Native American and Indigenous first-year student advising regarding academic, personal, social, and/or college disciplinary matters. The Assistant Director identifies program related needs and develops and oversees the implementation of responsive programs regarding first-year students, student well-being, and leadership growth. In addition, the Assistant Director will provide advice and guidance to NAP sponsored student organizations.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

1. Student Group Advising - Support and guide student group events and activities so that their efforts have maximum impact and serve to enhance the academic, social, cultural, and spiritual lives of Native American and Indigenous students.

2. Orientation Program Management - In communication with the Director of the NAP , strategically develop, plan, and implement the Native Pre-Orientation Program and subsequent follow-up programming that reinforces the resources and support available to students.

3. Student Academic Advising - Provide academic advising to first-year students through a combination of one-on-one meetings and large-scale class outreach.

4. Alumni Collaboration - Collaborate with Native American Alumni at Dartmouth to develop and implement processes for alumni-to-student mentorship and networking opportunities and programming.

5. Student Professional Development - Develop and implement programming to address student well-being and leadership growth, including internship and post-graduation information.

Performs other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend hours required.
