Responsible for area sales results through leading Regional Sales Managers and their Long-Term Care Specialists while overseeing all aspects of the business such as budgeting, action planning, execution of customer engagement strategies. This position is geographically based.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively recruits, develops, coaches, evaluates, retains, and leads a team of leaders.
  • Builds a winning, customer-centric culture.
  • Motivates and inspires team toward a common vision.
  • Works in collaboration across other company functions, including access and reimbursement, marketing, and medical affairs to provide appropriate and compliant customer experiences
  • This role will be expected to create customized solutions to differentiate the behaviors of ACADIAs salesforce from the competition.
  • Provides business acumen and industry experience to develop recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Requires a deep understanding of market forces, competitive dynamics, and industry trends.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to guide resource allocation and field deployment decision.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies.
  • Provides training and guidance to sales management on coaching sales representatives in the selling process and all aspects of customer interaction, and managing their sales territories.
  • Evaluates sales management behaviors; providing recognition or identifying development areas as appropriate.
  • Interacts directly with sales representatives as appropriate.
  • Effectively manages personnel issues in a timely manner.
  • Trains and develops staff toward improved skills and success in their roles.
  • Creates clear expectations and holds team accountable to them.
  • Establishes alignment through a business planning and review process.
  • Develops and adheres to budget.
  • Monitors and analyzes business results and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Plans and executes effective governance and communication.
  • Contributes to the oversight and guidance of ACADIA and its mission and values.
  • Meets or exceeds sales expectations.

Education/Experience/Skills:

Bachelors degree (science or business preferred) or equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered. MBA preferred. A minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in pharmaceutical or medical sales, with at least 6 years management experience or equivalent. Specialty sales and/or long-term care experience preferred.

Must possess:

  • Proven ability to deliver on sales results.
  • Demonstrated sales management coaching ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with key customers and build networks within the medical community.
  • Ability to anticipate future business opportunities and customer needs.
  • Ability to complete verbal and written evaluations of others.
  • Organization, initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and the ability to comply to a strict policy, work in a highly regulated environment, and maintain confidential information and data.
  • Skilled at negotiating with business partners or management and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Proficient at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members effectively aligning resources and activities to achieve functional area and/or organizational goals.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must live near a major airport.
  • Significant (approximately 60%) overnight travel required.

Scope:

Establishes strategic plans for designated function(s). Develops methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of functional area and related organizational objectives. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional area and may impact the long term success of the Company.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel by car or airplane independently up to 60% of the time and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business issues.
