Position Purpose

The Access Coordinator of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) engages in direct service with students, staff, and academic partners to support students with disabilities in receiving reasonable adjustments and program modifications that achieve equitable access to the College's programs, services, and activities. The Access Coordinator provides ongoing support to students and their faculty and engages in meetings with a caseload of students. In the process, the Access Coordinator supports students' intellectual and personal development, consistent with the mission of the College and the College's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Moreover, the Access Coordinator's direct service role and engagement in outreach activities raise campus awareness and enhance the campus climate for individuals with disabilities.

Key Accountabilities

Works directly with students and faculty via the interactive process, incorporating careful review of disability documentation, relevant legal guidance, and input from SAS colleagues (when needed), to determine reasonable academic adjustments, auxiliary services, and other aids that do not fundamentally alter programs of study. - 45%
Provides ongoing counsel to a caseload of students to support them in better understanding the nexus of their disabilities and their Dartmouth experience, to problem-solve and potentially refine strategies or accommodations, to connect them with relevant on and off-campus resources, and to foster autonomy. - 15%
Maintains detailed records regarding interactions with students, faculty, and other relevant parties. - 15%
Collaborates with on- and off-campus partners including the Undergraduate Deans' Office, Case Management, the College Health Service and Counseling Center, the Office of Residential Life, the Office of Pluralism and Leadership, the Native American Program, the First-Year Student Enrichment Program, and private providers to foster a holistic approach to addressing student and campus needs. - 10%
Develops and delivers on-campus educational programming, participates in divisional projects, and serves on campus committees that contribute to an equitable, inclusive Dartmouth College environment for individuals with disabilities. - 10%
Serves as a liaison to student groups and recognized organizations centered around accessibility and other forms of diversity, equity, and inclusion. - 5%
