Position Summary:

The Director coordinates and integrates services within assigned units and within ABH, develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services and maintains accountability for professional standards of practice within assigned units. The Unit Director provides administrative supervision and encourages staff development. The position is responsible for the coordination of performance improvement activities within the unit and for the fiscal performance of the unit. The Director also functions as the housing specialist for the teams. As the housing specialist, the Director assists consumers in successfully obtaining and maintaining housing tenancy in the community. The Director oversees housing resources, provides individuals with assistance through the leasing process, teaches budgeting skills, assists in furnishing and creating a warm home for each consumer, and assists consumers in accessing entitlement programs. The Director has a treatment philosophy which is person-centered and embodies wellness, recovery and resiliency. Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach, coach and mentor others are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment of staff
  • Provision of administrative supervision of all staff including performance evaluations
  • Responsible for monitoring of quality of service delivery including measures of service effectiveness and consumer satisfaction
  • Interaction with outside agencies, organizations and systems to advocate for consumer services and to assist in meeting needs of consumers.
  • Communication of needs identified by teams including resources and other support needs
  • Support the smooth functioning of the all teams, fostering effective team processes
  • Participation in performance improvement activities as defined by ABH. Primary responsibility for tracking client outcome, accessibility, utilization and other service data for the purpose of performance improvement, reporting data as directed
  • Completion and monitoring of service coordination agreements with external agencies in coordination with Senior Director
  • Collaboration with teams to facilitate consumer accessibility to an effective continuum of care
  • Responsibility for the administrative, clinical and operational functioning of all assigned programs
  • Ensure adequate levels of clinical staff, supervision, interdisciplinary training and skill development and support
  • Responsibility for coordinating referral process and case assignment
  • Responsible for assuring compliance with DMHS, JCAHO, ABH policy and other relevant standards and financial performance of service according to ABH budget
  • Provide back-up to on-call system
    • Supports the organization's mission, vision, and values.
    • Coordinates and integrates services within the units and within ABH.
    • Maintains a safe environment of care and an effective facility management program as defined by regulatory and voluntary accreditation organization standards.
    • Comply with financial reporting requirements (e.g. payroll, accounts payable).
    • Promotes participatory management and develops a cohesive work unit.
    • Perform a comprehensive rehabilitation needs assessment pursuant to NJAC 10:37B-2.3
    • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring, and updating of the individualized rehabilitation plan pursuant to NJAC 10:37B-2.4
    • Perform therapeutic rehabilitative skill development pursuant to NJAC 10:37B-4.2
    • Offer services appropriate to meet the consumer's needs pursuant to NJAC 10:37B-4.6
    • Perform crisis intervention pursuant to NJAC 10:37B-4.4(a)24
    • Coordinate and manage services pursuant to NJAC 10:37B-4.5
  • Maintaining valid NJ driver's license.

Minimal Qualifications:

Education: Master's degree in a behavioral health related field.

Experience: Five (5) years experience in behavioral health setting and two (2) years

supervisory experience in a behavioral health setting.

Preferred Qualification:

License/Certification: Licensed as independent practitioner in New Jersey that would qualify as LIP under ABH

Training/Experience: Knowledge of ASAM placement criteria, Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification, strong knowledge of community resources, ABH system, training in performance improvement activities.
