Penn Medicine Princeton Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Radiology Department in Plainsboro, NJ.The Patient Care Technician assists staff to ensure optimal patient care as well as coordinate the flow of Imaging exam interpretation and dissemination of the imaging report.Some job functions and duties will include, but are not limited to:Patient Care¢ Obtain relevant blood work result prior to imaging examination or procedure¢ Receive patients from other areas for their imaging studies¢ Assist and monitor patients while they are in the imaging department¢ Observe and report patient behavioral changes while in the imaging department¢ Provide emotional and support services to patients and family members while they in the imaging department¢ Release patients for their examinations, procedures or to family members and/or ambulance¢ Coordinate the patients imaging itinerary to lessen travel between the inpatient floors and imaging¢ Maintain efficient inpatient flow in radiology by keeping track of the inpatient scheduling system¢ Dispatching transporters to pick up and return patientsImage Management¢ Prepare radiology studies to be read by radiologists to include: prior studies, retrieving and scanning prior reports to PACS and serving as liaison between radiologist and hospital staff¢ Incorporate retrieved or transferred imaging studies into the UMCP PACS timeline¢ Transfer imaging studies from CD or DVD into the UMCP PACS¢ Restore previous CT studies as requested and incorporate into the PACS timeline¢ Retrieve imaging studies from storage¢ Digitize analog studies as needed¢ Deliver analog studies to the file jacket after interpretation¢ If needed, hang previous mammography films in the correct order, orientation and year¢ Pull and return previous mammography into the mammography jacketPrioritize Reads¢ Ensure correct routing of images to the assigned radiologist for interpretation¢ Maintain control of the interpretation by monitoring, with the use of iSite, QCPR and PowerScribe, the imaging studies that are in progress and complete to ensure that they are read within appropriate time and with the appropriate priority¢ Notify the appropriate radiologist when there is delay in interpretation¢ Alert the radiologist regarding unread studies and ask their assistance in getting the study interpreted¢ Relay and keep a record of critical results¢ Seek available radiologist when the reading radiologist becomes unavailable or when there are multiple studies to be read simultaneously¢ Call the appropriate modality when a study remains not ready for radiologist interpretation after twenty minutes¢ Notify radiologist when UMCP echo hearts are ready for dictation¢ Obtain, scan into PACS and notify appropriate radiologist when the pathology reports from a biopsy becomes available¢ Remind the radiologists to sign off their dictated reports prior to ending their work day

Educational requirements:\n• High School diploma or equivalent - required.\n\nLicensure, Certification or Registration Requirements: \n• Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification - required \n\nSpecialized Skills & Knowledge Requirements\n• Excellent customer service orientation, teamwork approach, flexibility and ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently.\n• Knowledge of medical terminology - preferred\n• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and follow directions from lead technologists, managers, director and radiologists\n• Must have computer skills using Windows based PC applications, i.e., MS Office, PowerScribe, iSite\n• Able to use office equipment such as fax machine, scanner and copier\n• Sound communication skills\n• Able to prioritize in a sound manner\n• Detail oriented\n• Ability to work in a fast paced environment\n• Ability to think/work independently
